Our Baby is Here!

 

Last belly picture the night before we left for the hospital, Sunday July 1st:

We had to be at the hospital at 5am Monday morning. It was a very long day for us that didn’t go quite as expected. My water was broke at 6:30am, and I didn’t start pushing until 5pm. After 2 hours of pushing and getting no where, I had to have a cesarean. I was so disappointed in myself, but after the looks on my doctor’s face I knew it was the right thing to do. I was exhausted. Turns out the baby was transverse.

We made the decision at 7pm to go in for the surgery. Craig gowned up, and had to go tell the family the news. It wasn’t easy for him either. We were both extremely scared at this point. I was in the operating room by 7:10, and our baby was born at 7:26pm.

We hadn’t found out the sex of the baby, so Craig and I were anxiously waiting for the doctor to say what it was. I swear I heard the doctor say “watch his penis” but I was under the influence of quite a few medications at the time. Craig heard a couple of the nurses say “girl” and then they told us “It’s a Boy!”. We both had tears rolling down our face as we watched the nurses clean our screaming baby boy.

It was amazing to finally meet our baby boy!

We spent the next three days in the hospital, and each day was filled with visiting friends and family members wanting to meet Little Louis.

We were finally able to come home on Thursday afternoon.

We just can’t get over how amazing he is!  We love absolutely everything about him. Words can’t even describe.

37 Weeks!

I’ll be 37 weeks tomorrow. I can’t believe it’s almost here!

32 Weeks and Baby Shower!

First off, here is an updated baby bump picture @ 32 weeks!

Last week was a busy baby week! Wednesday we had an ultrasound and a checkup, Thursday we had breastfeeding class, and then Saturday was our baby shower.

Here is the best shot we got at our ultrasound on Wednesday morning. Most people have been saying CRAIG and BOY when they see it, and only a few think it looks like me, but we’ll see come July!

Saturday I had a wonderful shower! We got a lot of great gifts and I am so thankful to all who came! Here are a few pictures of the decorations that we made:

Gotta have wine! Too bad I couldn’t have any, a glass of Straight Shooter Red sounds delicious right about now!

This was us almost exactly 2 years ago at Kortney’s shower, June 2010. I guess Candace is next unless we have some surprises from Ashley or Amy coming up!

I don’t know if I blogged this picture earlier or not, but my cousin and my aunt on my mom’s side are also pregnant right now. I’m due July 3rd, Becky is due September 6th, and Stephanie is due September 12th. Here is a picture of us about two months ago:

And here we are at my shower. Becky is having a boy and Stephanie is having a girl. I think I’m carrying more like Stephanie, Becky is carrying very low. So maybe we’re having a girl…. haha we’ll see!

It was pretty exhausting! We got a lot of great gifts and I am SO thankful for everything!!!

I spent a good part of Sunday organizing everything and writing down what we still need to get. Most of the “big” items were bought, I think the most expensive thing we have to buy yet is the high chair. Basically we have to get all the little things yet, like burp cloths, onesies, bibs, hangers, detergent, diaper creams, diaper pail, sheets, more bottles, etc. We received several giftcards to Target, so that will definitely help purchase a lot of the smaller items. Now I can’t wait to go shopping.
